Times of India: a paper of advertisements

Image
Is this me? or other people also think the same?? Times of India has become official paper of Advertisements. I am sure many other people must have similar thoughts. When I pick up the TOI from my door it is bulky, and this bulk hardly has reading material. Now a days I have to struggle through a lot of junk to find a news. My morning time is limited and I am into a rush to get ready and go to the work. whatever little time I have for news paper reading I only want to put into useful and relevant info and news. My attention span is wasted in wading through the visual chaos of glitzy ads, glamorous pics and luxury property ads. Then there are days when you get half front page. What with this half cut front page? It might be a creative advertisement strategy but a real inconvenience for the user, when trying to sort out or fold the paper. 2 and half pages one small 3 column news to read Things get worse when the festive season starts. from Dusshera to Diw

recycling plastic bottles the facebook way

Image
It has been some time I have been seeing a lot of people in my facebook friend list are sharing pics of plastic bottles recycling. These clever solutions invariably get attention.  Over a period, I collected a good number of these images (got a bad habit of collecting images). I tried a few of them at home; my skill with cutting plastic failed me. The end result was a crude product. I still feel this is a good way to start and make people at least think about recycling. So here are the images I have been talking about:  These images belong to their original owner and I am sharing here for spreading the good word. check out this link as well: Green Diary Make a grain containers  using 2 big plastic bottles use the bottle neck and cap for air sealing clever use of bottle bottom for flower pattern hanging lamp roof tile pen-pencil holder SIP Planter coins purse hanging flower pots ladder plants pots plant hanging

working for social games

Image
I play social games. I am a regular player at Facebook Farmville. Recently, I have been playing Karma Kingdom. want to know why? this game feature some of my art. yes, I am working with Asvathaa Inc. apart from mobile game design and art creation we are maintaining this Facebook social game.   We create seasonal release update. thinking up new assets, themes and quests. It is exciting and a lot of work as well. Here is a image showing my initial attempts to get the hang of the game's existing unique art style. It's very organic and repeats the Indian spiral curl motif. some useful books on film making

Image
here is a list of three books on film making which are recommended to be pretty useful to the people related to live action cinema. it's a kind of wishlist for me as well. Concepts in Film Theory By: Dudley Andrew Grammar Of The Film Language By: Daniel Arijon Film Directing Shot by Shot By: Steven D. Katz I am trying to buy these books. I have ordered them online through Junglee which is has some king of association with Amazon. what was really funny that Junglee only works like some kind of search engine to find seller online and gives you the links to compare different seller's prices for the searched product. then asks you to go to buy on seller site. thus one order went Pustak.co.in another to amegabooks.com I really hope these seller deliver as they claim. an Indian summer full of animation buzz

Image
there seems to be sudden awaking on the Indian animation scene. home made animation content is showing signs of an improved quality. posters and promos look good. let us see how they all fair on the box office. if these films- TV programme do well then certainly more producers will be willing to put their money into animation.   Shaktiman is already running on TV and getting positive response. It has setup new production quality standard for home grown 2D animation content. Chota Bheem is also popular TV character and soon to be seen on big screen. this IP already has a fan base lets see how they cash it on box office. Krishna aur Kans is another feature film to look out for. their promo has some quality of animation to showcase. it looks good as it is but they seem to be highlighting 3D stereoscopic a bit too much. Arjun the warrior prince is also finally getting released. I had seen it's earlier promo abo

Spirituality, illustration and Facebook

Image
facebook wall postings are always full of surprises. apart from daily updates of pets, birthdays and show off pics you get see to some anonymous postings which somebody liked from your friends list. topics of these posts can be very different. here, I am just going to talk about the post which are related to spirituality and have very intriguing visual to support it. this one talks about how your palm has point (buttons) to different body parts. if you press these points (acupuncture) 3-5 seconds it helps or soothes the situation.  this illustration is about 7 centres of energy within the human body termed as kundalini. I think this is a self explanatory diagram.  this beautiful illustration tells about a Hindu temple structure and the scientific reasoning behind it. what is visible from the picture is that a temple also has limbs(spaces) like a living being, each one got its place and importance within the seque

south indian food, saturday ! yumm!!

Image
I usually don't write blog posts on food. I see some of my facebook friends sharing pictures of the food they are cooking or discovering. in that way, I got to know about a few dishes which otherwise I will not try. Once, some one shared pics of Maithi Chicken . It sounded really interesting combination to me. then, I looked up for it's recipe. I found a youtube video on it's cooking. By the way, youtube is good source for video recipes. I prefer video recipes than the written ones. its simple and less time taking to follow a video recipe.   I love to eat tasty and healthy food. Today, I got a really good South Indian Veg food treat on the occasion of Vishu This was really healthy food. As I could see what goes on to making "Sambar" of this kind. Kacche Kele (Unripe Banana), Tamatar (Tomato), Aloo (Potato), Toor Dal ( Split Pigeon Peas) , Bhindi (lady finger), Saijan ki Phali (Drumsticks), Kaddu (Indian Pumpkin), Chena (Elephant Yam), Curry Patta (Curry Leave

comics art by Mukesh Singh

Image
I was supposed to write this post almost a month back, that's when I came to know about Mukesh Singh's superb art for comics. I happened  to see some images by him on Facebook. I was impressed by those visuals. then, I wanted know more about who is this guy Mukesh? churning out world class stuff. He is a graduate from Sir J.J. School of Fine Arts  and currently working with Liquid Comics as Senior Illustrator and concept artist. Mukesh's work  is obviously a great display of sheer mastery of his skills. his  frame angles are unusual but believable. his characters have a hyper realistic anatomy at the same time human emotions. his page layouts have epic grandeur. wow, Indian talent is shining all the way!   two images from 18 Days (Grant Morrison’s book on Mahabharata art by Mukesh Singh) here are web links to know more about him and see some of his work online. interview: http://www.comicswaitingroom.com/mukeshsingh.html featur

Evolution Of The Batman Logo by Andrei Robu

Image
About a month or two I came across an image talking about Evolution Of The Batman Logo by Andrei Robu on some blog. This study really had something catchy about it. specially, I could see some movement in the bat logo if rolling  your mouse roller in a particular up and down rhythm. I thought, what if you take these bat logo as a frames and put them into a timeline how they will look like. so I made a video out of sequence of those images (without using any metamorphosis or re-arrangement). here is what it looks like:   here is the actual study image :  Evolution Of The Batman Logo by Andrei Robu Disclaimer: All the images/ logo shown here belong to respected owners and shared here for appreciation purpose.

Leonardo animated series

Image
Just found out there is an animated series on Leonardo cartoon book by Tturk De Groot . The video looks true to comics. Leonardo is a Belgian/French comics cartoon character based on Leonardo da Vinci.  I have 2 or 3 album from the comics series. I was impressed with the visual style and innovative gadgets which were the essential elements of the humor of the series. Now watching all those elements come to life is a pleasure. Here is the official trailer for the TV series: you can know more about it on the official site: http://www.leonardlegenie.com/ info about authors: http://www.actuabd.com/Turk-Bob-De-Groot-Leonard-est-ne There is also a web game: http://www.leonardlegenie.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/catapulte/ELI_LNRGAME_Catapult_vCJ_2-1-7.html Disclaimer: All the character images/videos shown here belong to respected owners and shared here for appreciation purpose.
