Mailer and Graphic Design

Image
Recently I decided to write about the mailer Design.its been for some time I have been noticing different mailer which reach in to my mail box. Sometimes just annoying advertisements, sometimes containing some relevant information or sometimes are invitation of some offer and event. but nonetheless they all have something to display and are part of a newly emerged graphic design domain. each one got its genre, color palette, fonts and other Composition elements. their size and interactivity levels differ according to objectives. newsletters are delivered into your inbox I am not sure whether they will also fall in mailer design? most newsletter mail just the highlight of the main content and are often open into main site.Newsletter designs are much more extensive while mailer is usually one time act and serves the purpose for that assigned period. anyway, they all are products of new media and are expanding the horizon of graphic design discipline. here are some

Dreamy ideas and feasibility

Image
Many times when I hear success stories of different people, I think some day, we will also get there. this encourages me to brain storm and come up with something genuine and relevant for a start up. My cousin has started a company with 2 of his friends. He seems to be excited and not just the excitement but they are earning as well. my roommate and I keep discussing success stories and come up our own ideas which we share and reject all the time on the feasibility basis. there were 2 small web application ideas which we thought were a out of the world. 1: what if you could earn real money from a game like farm ville instead of game coins, cash and experience!we were thinking a game on the similar lines and tasks will be real. like someone plays a writer then he actually writes and puts it on display and anyone who is interested could buy it. we thought many thing such as graphic designer, cartoonist, flash animator developer, t shirt design, card design, character design, and so on.

Edwin Lord Weeks: intricate portraiture of Indian scenes

Image
I had planned to write this post long before but some how I never actually got down with it. I discovered Edwin Lord Weeks (an American explorer and painter- 1849 – 1903) work 4 or 5 months back when I was researching for my film Rangmahal. read more about him on wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edwin_Lord_Weeks) I was amazed with the real life like oil paint rendering of his work. the proportion and composition of the scenes are like watching a wide screen frame. you can feel the oriental temperature in the colors he has used. you can see by the depiction of Asian and Indian human figures that he had spent a long time in the region and mastered the color, texture and postures of the people of this part of the world. here are 2 of my favorites: you can see the complete work of him on this web link :  http://www.edwinlordweeks.org/ Disclaimer: all the paintings/images shown here belong to respected owners and shared here for appreciation purpose. related

Lahore: the film

Image
recently, I was watching some song on youtube then I happen to remember another new film called Lahore which an intense film on kick-boxing tournament between two nations India and Pakistan. this film asks people to treat game matches as a sport and not a war,(specially in context of India and Pakistan). the trailer of the film is gripping and generates a lot of curiosity. I liked this poster a lot it. kinetic energy is bursting out. saffron red and green symbolize 2 countries India and Pakistan.(which is literal) 2 colors put together and white left in-between makes it looks like Tringa (tricolor)= INDIA Just now, when I am writing this post I remembered (rather related) an old discussion with some friend right now not able to recall the name. the Idea was: Can India and Pakistan come together like East Germany and West Germany? I can only hope, this fantasy becomes reality some day! Listen to the theme of the film it has got a haunting feel which raises goosebumps: official web

Ghasiram: Hindi comic book

Image
Ghasiram is a Hindi comic book which I created in my school days. that was the period, when comics were really popular among kids and I always wished to be a cartoonist or say a comics creator. I used to read a lot of Hindi Comics which used to get published from Delhi and Mumbai. Names like Diamond comics , Manoj comics and Raj comics were craze in small towns. then there were Amar Chitra Katha , Indrajaal comics and Tinkle magazine. there was a small comics store called 'Vijay Book Centre' in my town. He used to rent out comics and also had a reading bunker. often, in summers he used get a lot of stock of comics from Mayapuri Delhi. this stock had a lot of Hindi translation of American and European comics. that's when I got introduced to characters like Asterix, Lucky Luke, Tintin, Axa, Laurel and Hardy . When, I got little more mature, I started enjoying foreign syndicated comic strips in the English newspapers. It had a subtle humor sense and had a lot of vis

twosome awesome !! Marilyn Monroe and Mickey Mouse

Image
Pop artist Ron English and vinyl toy manufacturer Garage Works came up with a unique toy (sculpture/installation/statue) whatever you feel like to refer. they created a piece of art called: "Marilyn Mickies " limited edition fiberglass statues of Marilyn Monroe with Mickey Mouse ’s face as her breasts. I don't want to be judgmental here but I simply liked this weird or let say punk-ish modern pop art. it combines the most popular icons of the consumerism and mass appeal into one. some people might mind the nudity but it's not vulgar or erotic. here is the web link to garage works industries blog : http://www.garageworksindustries.com/blog/384/marilyn-mickies-statue Disclaimer: all images shown here belong to respected owners and shared here for appreciation purpose.
